New Delhi: Dr. Arathi Krishna, Deputy Chairperson, Non-Resident Indian Forum, Government of Karnataka participated in the World Religion Parliament held at the Papal House, Vatican City.
The World Religion Parliament was organized by the Sri Narayana Dharma Sangom Trust, in commemoration of the first World Religion Parliament held by the late Sri Narayana Guru in 1924.
Saints and religious leaders of various religions from all over the world participated in the World Religion Parliament held at the Vatican City, Italy.
On the occasion, Pope Francis expressed hope for cooperation among all "people of goodwill" to foster a culture of "respect, dignity, compassion, reconciliation, and fraternal solidarity.”
This message echoed in the Joint Declaration of Istiglal this past September, which serves as an antidote to the values of "individualism, exclusion, indifference, and violence.” By "drawing" from their shared traits, the Pope concluded, representatives of different religions can "walk and work together to build a better humanity,” while remaining "firmly rooted" in their own "beliefs" and "religious convictions."
Arathi said that Indians who have dedicated their lives to various causes in different countries of the world have contributed to their respective countries and religions in one way or another.
At the conference, the Deputy Chairperson of the Non-Resident Indian Forum said, " Let us embrace a vision of harmony, compassion, respect, and peace shown by Sree Narayana Guru and the religious gurus and prophets of all religions.
Only then can we collectively tackle global challenges facing humanity like climate change, pandemics, poverty, sustainable development, education etc. It is only then can we bequeath to our children a better world than what we inherited.”
In her special message she said “Brothers and Sisters present here I am honoured to say a few words at the centenary celebrations of the first All Religions Conference, organized for the first time in 1924 by Sree Narayana Guru. Sree Narayana Guru was a leader and a great visionary. His teachings remain relevant to this day. His vision for Oneness, Harmony, Unity, Compassion, and Peace is timeless and we should embrace this vision wholeheartedly for the betterment of humanity”.
